Relative Survival of LMS Northern Division Locomotives

Relative Survival of LMS Northern Division Locomotives Slide 21

LMS's introduction of Compound 4-4-0s on the West Coast main-line met with little more success than on the LNW section, but at least they relieved the MacIntosh/Pickersgill 4-4-0s & 4-6-0s. The 2Ps on the other hand seem to have swept all in front of them on the G&SW section, but found no place on the Highland! The 2-6-0 Crabs were really useful machines, whilst the Royal Scot 4-6-0s were largely for through express to and from South of the Border.
